I’m celebrating the arrival of a new school year by offering a handful of giveaways for items you can use in your homeschool, Montessori classroom, or most anywhere you like to spend time with the young children in your world. Last week, I shared a bit about the Bissell Natural Sweep: a carpet sweeper that can be tailored for use by children and adults alike, and is a wonderful addition to a Montessori Practical Life area or home.

Today, I’d like to talk with you a bit about Montessori Print Shop, a fantastic company that provides printable Montessori materials designed by an AMI Certified Montessori teacher who has 20 years of experience. As a Montessori teacher and parent myself, I find that I’m always making something to support my children as they dig deeper into the things they’re most interested in. I’m no graphic designer, however, and most of the materials I make myself are not only far from perfect (which is totally okay!), but also take a very long time. Finding the right images for something I want to create, finding a way to make things uniform or to scale, and otherwise figuring out the details of a set of cards or a cutting activity can be really frustrating. It’s the first day for most of the preschoolers in our area today, and Annabelle, Elliot, and I are going to start our routine, too. We’re not able to have friends in to join us until we finish one more inspection and a bit more waiting, but I figure we’ll get ourselves into the swing of things and work out some of the kinks in our own routine now. Annabelle is always eager to work with the Montessori materials, too, so it will be nice to spend some regular time in the classroom space again. To celebrate the arrival of fall for homeschoolers, unschoolers, and outside-of-home schoolers alike, I thought I’d start offering up some of the giveaways I’ve been working on for you all. Right now, the Back to [Home]School Giveaway Series is slated to last the month of September, with one giveaway each Tuesday, but I just might see if I can’t pull together a few things for October, too. If you’ve been reading here for awhile, you already know about Montessori Services, a company I’m an affiliate for. I rely on Montessori Services for many of the materials we use in our Montessori community classroom, as well as much of what we use in our home. As a small company started by a Montessori teacher, Montessori Services offers a wide range of materials, many of which are otherwise hard to find, for preparing an environment that fosters self-confidence and independence. Child-sized kitchen utensils, tools for cleaning up, or for tending to the garden, and everything you need to prepare virtually any Practical Life exercise can be found in their catalog. There’s much more to their offerings, too, including a number of carefully prepared, shelf-ready activities, like the Boards of Education, which Montessori Services recently sent for me to try out with the children in my classroom and review for all of you here.
