As you likely know already, if you’re the sort of person who reads blogs in an RSS Reader anyway, Google Reader shut down earlier this summer. Reader is how I used to keep up with all of your blogs, and I have taken that tool for granted – only visiting blogs when I saw in Reader that something new had been posted. Theoretically, I made a seamless transition over to bloglovin’ and I should be getting all of your updates there, but I know I’m missing some. I’ve been so reliant on readers for so long that I’m not even positive which ones, but I keep seeing comments and facebook updates and such that make me think, “Hrm, haven’t heard from that blogger in awhile,” only to pop over and discover that they’ve posted plenty, I just didn’t realize it!
All that to say: If I used to visit your blog and never do anymore, it’s probably just because I can’t remember anything ever, unless it shows up in my Google Reader/Feedly/Bloglovin’ thing. Please, pretty please, comment on this post if you’ve been posting, but have not heard from me in awhile. If you read this blog and have a blog of your own, but have never introduced yourself here, please feel free to do that now, too. I’d be thrilled to meet you!
Oh, and if you use bloglovin’ too, but don’t already “follow” me there, you can totally do that here!
I have been writing this blog for nearly two and a half years now, and just over a year here on my own domain. I write for the love of it, and for the community, and have always felt that this was reward enough. I still do, in fact. Writing has been my hobby, my therapy, and so much more. It has saved me on days when I desperately needed a connection to the adult world. It has also taken a good portion of my time, and it has also taken a small slice from our budget. The domain and hosting aren’t free, after all. Continue reading
I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday with their families – I know we had a great long weekend here! I have really been enjoying the year in review posts on some of my favorite blogger’s sites, and thought to prepare my own before I realized that the mid-year domain and platform change would make determining my most popular posts of the year, my most prolific commenters, and anything else of the sort a rather difficult task.
Instead, I’ll just thank each one of you, as genuinely as I can figure out how, for journeying through all or part of this year with me. Whether you read one post or one hundred, commented on a handful or none at all, I’m truly thankful for your presence. Knowing that people are out there reading, and that my words actually do benefit others in one way or another, has made this experience so much more worthwhile. I am truly grateful. Continue reading
As most of my regular readers know, I have the great honor of volunteering with the Natural Parents Network (NPN), a community of natural-minded parents and parents-to-be that aims to inform, empower, and inspire. When you visit the NPN’s website you can find articles and posts about Activism, Balance, Consistent Care, Ecological Responsibility, Family Safety, Feeding With Love, Gentle Discipline, Healthy Living, Holistic Health, Natural Learning, Nurturing Touch, Parenting Philosophies, Practical Home Help, Preparing for Parenting, Responding With Sensitivity, Safe Sleep, and so much more! I have mentioned already that this has been, for me, a very sleepy week and I have been a lousy, lousy blogger in terms of keeping up with my community. One of the reasons for that is that the husband has been out of town, but he returned home last evening and has given me the morning to myself, so I’m doing my best to start the process of catching up. Rather than write yet another post without doing the reading and responding that I so long to do right now, I finally finished up something I’ve been working on: My Community Page.
My one and only concern with creating this page is related to the knowledge that I have inevitably forgotten someone. I had to create several incarnations to finally get the code up and running properly, and several times chunks of my code were eaten. I checked and rechecked, but there is surely an oversight somewhere. If you’re surprised that you don’t see yourself on there, because you know I like to check in with you – do not be shy! Please point out my mistake. I also did not go through to check who had buttons and who did not, so I only added those I knew for sure existed. If you have a button, feel free to send me the link so I can add yours, too.
And with that, I’m off to check in with as many of you as I can before it’s time to put my little love down for a nap!
