Gratitude and a Giveaway **CLOSED**

I'm also pretty grateful for pumpkins, but who isn't? Image credit: Penguinbush on flickr.

The transition from my old blog to this one has left me feeling even more grateful than usual for the insightful, supportive community I have found in this space and around the web. With that in mind, I felt it only appropriate that I join Amanda of Let’s Take the Metro for a gratitude post as I complete the settling in process. Stick it out to the end (or scroll down), because I have a prize for you, too!

This week, I’m grateful for:

A partner who is supportive of my writing and the time I devote to it.

Lisa, who patiently listened as I explained the tiny things I wanted to tweak in this lovely new design, and put in the time not only to understand what I wanted, but to create it for me.

Community, and more specifically, friends with toddlers. Would you believe I went back and forth on the decision of whether or not to host a Pumpkin Party for our ones, twos, and threes, because there were too many people to invite? A huge contrast to the first months of Annabelle’s life, when I was desperate for community and didn’t know where to find it. While the idea of hosting so many overwhelmed me at first, I’m feeling really excited now. It will be wonderful to give these very young ones a party all their own.

Our garden. I’m so excited about my burgeoning seedlings and tiny plot. I believed for years that I couldn’t grow anything. I, the killer of plants. I’m so glad I decided to rewrite that story, because every new leaf fills elicits a squeal of excitement, and I’m appreciating my food so much more for the understanding of the huge amount of work that goes into growing it.

Virtual garage sales. I can’t get out of my house early enough to drive around and find the deals, but I can sure stalk facebook like nobody’s business. In the past couple of weeks, I have scored a table and chairs for Annabelle’s room and a super cute yellow sundress for me, and managed to make a few dollars for some of our unwanted items, too. Such a great idea!

Now for the giveaway! To celebrate this new space, and thank you all for your support, I have decided to give away a brand new pocket diaper to one lucky winner. The diaper in question was purchased by me from my friend and the mama behind Gaia Eco Solutions, Amanda. I ordered all of Annabelle’s diapers online, so I was thrilled when I met Amanda and learned that cloth diapers are actually being sold right here on Guam. I was similarly thrilled when I learned that there was another mom passionate not only about cloth diapering, but about helping empower families to live in harmony with their environment in general. I suppose I’m grateful for that, too!

The winner will have their choice of either a OS Pocket Diaper from Sunbaby Diapers in the Circle Print (shown at left), or a OS Pocket Diaper from Babyland diapers in their choice of the “Bubble” or “Blue Swirly” print.

Unfortunately, the one snafu in my blog migration has to do with my RSS feed: I broke it. I even paid someone to try to recover it, but it’s gone. A year and a half worth of subscribers has been lost, and I have to say I’m pretty bummed. That said, not only is this giveaway my way of saying, “thanks for making the move with me and being awesome in general,” but I’ll admit it’s also a way for me to draw attention to the new site, new feed, and new facebook page. I’m hoping it catches the eye of a few of the people I may have lost during the transition. I greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word! That said here’s how you can enter:

I “liked” your FB page…… I hope I win, those diapers are too cute! Can’t wait to try cloth in December with baby #2.

I’d love to hear more about “virtual garage sales” Is this just through your friends on FB or is there a separate site you use? I have lots to sell, both baby stuff and just “clutter clearing” from 4 years in the same house!

I have to say, I was so confused when I came here. As usual, I was doing 5 things at once and had just clicked on a few pages and was waiting for them to load in different tabs. When this website came up, I thought “Who…? Wha…?” (After seeing how beautiful it was, of course!)

I love your new name. Perfectly fitting. :)

I’m fairly new to your blog. In fact, I didn’t become real acquainted with it before you made the change. I like how easy it is to navigate, though!
